The 9th National Risk Assessment: The Insurance Issue

This report highlights the growing issue concerning the cost, affordability, and general insurability of many locations across the country due to the increasing risk of exposure to climate hazards. The recently launched versions of the First Street Foundation Wildfire Model (FSF-WFM), First Street Foundation Wind Model (FSF-WM), and First Street Foundation Flood Model (FSF-FM) allows for the integration of property-specific building characteristics with damage curves to quantify the likelihood of economic damage and structure loss, for the current year and up to 30 years into the future under a changing climate.
